Windows 8 Developers Preview download info.
Re: Windows 8 Developers Preview download info.
It worked, I reduced the Ram in the W8 VMware settings to 2048 MB & did a "custom" install & made "not available" the SVGA driver & the VMware tools installed w/o a hitch

I take it your thinking there will not be a Windows 8 TechBeta?
I think that there will be...

Re: Windows 8 Developers Preview download info.
W8 seems to use about 300 MB less than W7, which is significant.
Boot is much faster, it's quite simply an improved OS under the hood.
I've been getting more network disconnects than normal ; and my games have been hanging/blackscreening occasionally ; though I installed some hacked Catalyst W8 driver (RC version) yesterday, which seems to have provided an improvement.
As expected, playing DVDs is as bad as in any other Windows pre-release version
...
W7 is VERY MUCH the backup system now

This might be fun to try out, I was going to wait for the beta but now I am thinking it may be awile before a Beta is available.

Re: Windows 8 Developers Preview download info.
I tried the Windows To Go copy on a External USB 3.0 disk & it worked great on 2 different rigs.
I just pressed F8/F9 (@ post & depending on the rig) & chose the boot device, the Windows 8 Dev. Prev. OS on the USB drive started up, loaded drivers, etc. I logged-in w/ the PW I used to create the To Go drive.
I added 9 updates, tweaked the settings & Metro Start menu, saved some screenys to the Pictures folder & desktop & everything was still there when I booted to another PC.
There are 2- unlettered drives that were created on the external USB drive, in total the space used was 12.763 GB. The guide I used (link above) said to use the W8 DP x86 DVD so that's the one I used.

Re: Windows 8 Developers Preview download info.
OK, I learned the *hard way & found-out that a 32GB flash drive (29.9GB actual) wont work for Windows To-Go (W2Go)
I am surprised since W2Go used less than 13 GB on my first test.
*the FRYS advert. that came out today has a 32GB USB 2.0 flash drive for $20.00 + tax (after rebate), so I bought one for testing W2Go
Too bad the USB 3.0 drives aren't available at this price.
