I used the Ctrl+Alt+Delete & choose the button on lower rt corner to restart & shutdown.

Alt+Tab is helpful sometimes also for other stuff.

This AM I installed the x86 flavor on the test rig also & set a new install record (for me anyway): 11 minutes, 45seconds. Of course I had my notes for UN & PW, etc.

ok found how to shut down and restart, when you hover over the little arrow where the start button would be, lower left corner, and move toward outside of screen, a menu flies up, then click on settings, you get a menu to the right, where the little power icon is then the two choices of shut down and restart menu pops up, wow what a pain lol

hovering over start button works same way, just move towards outside of screen menu etc

ctrl + esc toggles back to previous screen

I have got to get a touch screen, bet some of this may be like NCIS Los Angeles, NOT!!!! lol

Well I guess it could be if you had multiple monitors you could grab/touch a window and maybe push it to the other monitor

Thanks for the tips Daniel ^*^
Ya, a big touchscreen (or 2) would be nice for testing this.

----------------------

I checked out Safe Mode, not very exciting.
Weak Start Menu, less tiles on metro desktop, Security Center is broken, black desktop, etc.

To access (& undo) Safe Mode:

WinKey + R/ (type) msconfig/ Boot tab/ (check) Safe boot/ restart (box pops-up)

If Avast! wont work I have previously had luck installing Avira_Anti-virus on Windows 8.

Today I tried installing Avira AV & it wanted to shut down Win8 Defender so I stopped the install to look into it.
I checked the Action Ctr.it said that Defender was protecting me from viruses.

Something in yesterdays Steven S. keynote (I think) they spoke about not needing AV w/ Win8 as it has/will have built-in protection.

I Dl a copy of yesterdays SS keynote (Hi Def = 5.2 GB) thought I'd watch/search it again sometime.

If anyone wants to view or save any of the keynote or session videos I found them over @

http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/BUILD/B ... tBy_status

To Dl: Rt click on video type/ choose "save target as..." I have been renaming the ones I saved as they Dl name it a bit vague.

I snagged a MP4 & a WMV (High) & the latter is about 3.5x bigger but quite sharper when expanded.

Todays session "Running Windows from an external USB drive with Windows To Go" is what I'm waiting for, probably will be up tomorrow, they are running a day late it appears.

*They are mostly developer how-to & intro. videos
