What took 5 hours by the way, did you have to reinstall Windows or just update the drivers etc for the new chipset?

Thanks Daniel :yesnod:

I just took my time was careful lining up the MB holes, getting the cables nice, messing w/ the arctic silver5 (1st time too much, 2nd perfect), taking breaks every hour or so (+ lunch), did I mention that the HS/Fan attachment was a PITA, then giving the BIOS a complete once over.

I checked the temps & compared them to those using the previous stock heat sink/CPU (pre-applied) compound.
Previously:
CPU - 118 ° F
MB - 86° F

Now after running for 5 hours:
CPU - 95° F
MB - 86° F

I'll give it some more break-in time then up the memory MHz (& CPU GHz) a bit.
How long do you wait before boosting yours?
The arctic silver5 .pdf says 200 hrs

I used the existing drivers but did install the new "AI Suite 11"
On my first boot windows detected the hardware & appeared to install or confirm the drivers.

Edit: The CPU temp comparison is off, so I'm scratching them.

I haven't been messing with the OC'ng lately, but when I did, I waited a few days or so, probably not long enough since it says 200 hours.

The MSI board was DOA but because of the Intel fiasco, no one wanted to RMA the board! I missed MSI's deadline for free shipping back by ONE day so I said screw this crap and went back to my trusted ASUS brand, P8P67 Pro. Woohoo! ^*^

The first 2 screenies are my i7 930 @ 3.8GHz and the second set the 2600K @ stock speeds too! :notworthy Can't wait to OC this puppy as I just benched it with the stock Intel HS/F for now, I should be able to hit 4.5GHz with my Hyper 212+ HS/F, as you can see the stock HS/F is right at its limits and I'll never OC anything past 70C, that's my line in the sand. It's @ %100 load as is everything on my machines.;)

Hehehe, I basically gave away my Q6600 @ $50 but I love what I have! I do folding@home and Rosetta so these machines are being used to the hilt. If I was just surfing/videos, I could have stuck with a dual and enjoyed it too. Would have been more than enough power for me in that scenario.;)

Sorry! :( Will be a long time before I sell anything else. You'll be the first on my list whenever I'll want to unload my i7 930.;)

Congrats Algis on the new rig MB change-out & running.

Here is my stock performance rating in Windows 7 x86 for my i7-2600K
I have a weak/cheap video card, 8 GB of memory & a SATA 6Gb/sec Hdd.

*I know the x86 OS isn't using all the memory, so I'll post the Windows 7 x64 later after I run it.

That's nice shreader! Yup, that GPU needs some love.;) Mine is just a 9800GT for the time being. I have a GTX460 onboard too but for some reason, it's not recognized.:(
