Windows 8 Build 7850 Install & Testing

Yes, I have the internet working on mine albeit slow, and sometimes certain things on webpages don't work correctly, e.g. photobucket.............. once on your photo page, putting the cursor on a picture and leaving there, should result in a menu that gives you options for sharing the photo, don't get that.

I can connect either via LAN or Wirelessly, but not all the aspects of IE9 web pages work, and some sub menus on pages either take for ever to appear or they don't appear at all

Installed Avira Free, can't believe it didn't find any threats, considering where I got this build from LOL

I gotta get that AV as the 2 I tried (MSSE & Avast!) both failed, Avast! Even gave me a BSOD & Win8 did a automatic restore.

This AM I installed the MB chipset drivers & I now have internet.

I checked @ Start/Run:
slmgr.vbs /dli
slmgr.vbs /spr

& found I/We appear to have 30 days until we have to rearm.

I have no key either, so we test using it as a trial/evaluation install.

My real hardware install is quite a bit more robust than my VMware installs were.

Its a shame we cannot upgrade the IE9 Beta (we have) to the gold version. That IE9 Beta is weak.

Here is my first desktop thumbnail (I stayed up late that night)

My Homegroup won't accept my PW in Win8 so I use the Network choice (in Computer) & can browse to the other PC desktop, I created a shortcut to that desktop for quick access.

That automatic restore for the BSOD I had worked good, I only had to click or choose a couple of times, Win8 just fixed itself automatically.

Issn't there a IE 10 somewhere, I wonder how well that would work.

Have you tried uninstalling IE 9 and then installing the Gold version, maybe it will let us do that ?

Or maybe try another browser all together

ROFLMAO I downloaded Opera beta 11 then I went into control panel and under programs and features, turn off windows features and turned off IE 9, restarted computer and Walla Opera runs so much better than IE 9 Beta

I tried downloading and installing full version of IE 9, says Operating System is not supported :-P-----------------------pffffftttttttttttt

That is funny (or dumb), 8 will support Opera Beta but not IE9 Gold :whistle

I tried using the (old) Logon UI Changer to get rid of that old Win7 background, it worked good.

*DualBootPRO 1.1 works good too ^*^

Why didn't you just right click and personalize the desktop with one of those theme choices?

Did that work for you?

They will change the logon screen also?

When I did that in VMware I got a black screen w/ the build info in the corner & couldnt get back (it was a expired build though).

It didn't get rid of all the text but it did get rid of the part that says shhhhhhhhhhhhh and whatever, the Unauthorized and the rest in the corner are still there.
