I can't edit and make changes to the boot.ini file. I'm an ADMIN so I'm guessing W7 won't let changes be made while I'm using W7. I did try with Vista and the same thing - no changes permitted - at least changes to the root files.
Tinkering with DualBootPro - I have XP and Vista working but not W7. Now I get a black screen with a Hex code so I will keep plugging away.

Nothing has changed on the hardware side - no drive swaps, etc. I don't want to lose what I have under W7 - I want it all to work. Thanks in advance.

Weird that Windows 7 stopped working from the boot menu. Try deleting the entry you have for it and recreating it with the correct drive letter for it...oh wait a minute, in DualBootPRO does the Windows 7 entry show up in red on the operating systems page?

If you are able to boot to XP from the boot menu then your boot.ini must be correct and there's no need to edit it.

I'd far prefer to resolve the problem the way we are working at the moment, with the condition that we agree a time when you will be able to respond within an hour or so with me doing likewise. That way we can get this issue resolved within a few hours or even less than an hour as none of the processes involved are lengthy ones.

It's now 3.00 pm where I am and if you post your time, I'll figure our time difference by the time of your post. I can still be around for the next 6 hours or so or else when you get home or are free to give this attention and I guess that's in about 8 or 9 hours. I'll try and fit in with your schedule.

Ok - I take it you're not in the states - my time is 909 est. I'm a software packager - create .MSI installation setups - I work during the day but I'm usually home by 530p - est. which would be close to 11pm - if I would delete the entries that aren't working and re-create them that should keep my XP / Vista installations working.
I will try that when I get there. I may go to the gym tonight - I haven't decided yet.

Thanks again.

Give that a try and deleting the entry that is not working won't interfere with the ones that are. It's a good idea to use DBP to backup your BCD though before doing that, using the care center page and keep the backup where you can easily locate it from any of the installations.

I'll be around from 11 pm to around 3 am my time which is probably between 5 pm to 9 pm your time.

So what are you able to boot to at the moment? Still Windows 7 and Vista 32-Bit? What about XP?

What entries show up on the Operating Systems page of DBP?
