Can DualBootPRO repair my MBR and remove Grub?

Can DualBootPRO repair my MBR and remove Grub?

Postby trulore » Sat Mar 20, 2010 4:08 pm

I have a WindowsXP/Linux dual boot, and I want to delete the Linux partition and return my PC to single-boot WindowsXP.

All the articles keep saying "Put in the XP CD and run fixmbr" or whatever. But, when I put in my XP CD and go into "Recovery" mode, it asks for the Administrator password for my computer. I don't have that password. This is a work PC, and I couldn't even get that password if I wanted to. :-?

So, I want to know if DualBootPRO, by itself...from Windows XP....can restore my computer to where it will boot right into Windows XP just as before.

Thanks for any info! :)

No DualBootPro can not repair the master boot record of XP. You need to contact your system administrator and have them come and repair the boot record for you. You could reset the password but you will probably get fired for doing so.
