Deleting Operating system
I was having starange happining, so I decided to reinstall Windows XP but could not find my orginial XP CD. I decided to reinstall using another valid Microsoft XP CD and after it started I realized I would have to probably reinstall all my software programs so I stopped the installation. Now when the system boots it ask me to select one of two operating system, my orginial or the one which I stopped before it completed. I have now found my orginial XP CD. How do I delete the one operating system which never completed installation?
Re: Deleting Operating system
Is the original OS intact or did you install over it?
If you just want to delete the entry for the new OS you can simply delete the entry using the Operating Systems page of DualBootPRO, and then go to the boot.ini of the original OS and remove the entry there for the new OS too and then format the partition. You will need to edit the boot.ini from right click My Computer>Properties>Advanced>Startup and Recovery>Edit otherwise it will not save when you do so.
I take it you only have the two XP's installed?
You can also try a repair install which with XP retains all your programs and data but installs a new OS.
Re: Deleting Operating system
The original OS in intact & yes there is two XP's installed. The 2nd XP I stopped right after it started and if I select it at boot it wants to complete the installation.
