New User - Confused!

Hi all,

I just installed Dual Boot Pro on a new computer that had windows 7 preinstalled. I'm trying to run it in XP, but I've been getting the following error message since I ran a diagnostic. Any insights folks? I don't want to do any damage to my system by restarting...

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Yes, DBP needs that to be able to work and you should have been prompted to install it before you were able to install DBP. It's very weird that you weren't and we'll check on that...thanks for letting us know.

I successfully installed (or it actually said repair and install .Net framework), but when I went to reboot, I booted to windows 7. How do I get back to XP?

Still no luck - I am booting to XP now, but I have no boot menu at startup. Dual Boot does, however, recognize a Windows 7 operating system - I just can't get to it. I tried to install a "windows legacy" bootloader on the system bootloader page as well, but that has not worked - it still does not recognize the xp machine.

I went through the guide you just posted, but no success their either. Please advise.

Where are the boot system files for Windows 7 (bootmgr and the folder Boot) and where are the boot system files for XP (boot.ini, ntldr and NTDETECT.COM)? Are they on the root of the same partition - the partition tagged (System) as per Disk Management?

Did you add a drive letter to the (System) partition to unhide it before installing XP?

I'm about to log off for the night so unless someone else gets to help you, see you in the morning my time. You may want to read through some of the other guides with appropriate titles in the guides forum in the meantime.
