Problem with dual XP/Win 7 boot after larger HD
I have a Dell GX620 & dual-boot XP (C Drive) and Win 7 (D Drive). Works fine.
Recently I cloned the C Drive (XP) to a larger drive. However, now it only opens to XP and does not offer the Win 7 option. The D Drive is recognized & shows as "active". (When I restore the old/smaller C Drive, it dual-boots fine).
I ran a "diagnosis" with your Dualbootpro software and nothing changed except addition entries in the boot info.
What should I do, pls?
Don

Do you see a file "bootmgr" and folder "Boot" in the root of drive D. You will have to unhide files and system files/foldes to see it.
Or you can insert your old hard drive and goto disk manager and see which was the System drive/partition

OK
What that probably means was your Win 7 drive (D) was probably the System drive before swapping the hard drives.
Do you see the three files ntldr, NTDETECT, boot.ini in the root of D drive?

OK
I just paid attention to your post above on location of the bootmgr file.
What has happened is you Win 7 does not have the files necessary to boot. Probably the easiest way to solve this woudl be insert a Win7 DVD, boot to it, and do a Start Up repair. You will have to do this two times. The first time will copy this files to the hard drive. The second time will repair the BCD. You coudl in all theory do a Startup Repair once and then use DualBootPro to add the Win 7 entry and it should work also.
I will be back in a couple hours to check in on this.

Hi
Well, bless your heart!
The repair worked well; my computer now dual-boots to XP and Windows 7.
I had used Casper software to clone to a larger HD, which it did sucessfully, but in the process we lost key files in Win 7. The Casper folks recommended your software & assistance. Good advice!
Many thanks!
