Windows Home Server code name "Vail" Public Prev, RC & RTM
Re: Windows Home Server code name "Vail" Public Preview is now a
Mine FAILED its backup of the Main Rig (it started automatically after installing the Connector software) just now noticed it was finished so I checked the Dashboard to look @ the stats.
I didn't want it to automatically start backing up (again) so I dumped the failed backup data & took it (the Main Rig) off the backups.
I'll rerun it tonight before I crash.
Also It is giving me error "Alerts" since the port forwarding is broken w/ my router (I may need a firmware update or something), like I really care about the remote access anyway ATM. I'm sure MS wants that tested though.
My intel Core 2 Duo CPU does support VT, re: Hyper V I havent noticed that yet.

I guess mine does, since it says it is enabled in the bios (checked before I installed WHS Vail on the Intel system I mentioned earlier.
Mine didn't start an automatic backup of my main system that I added, I started it on the Dashboard myself just a few minutes ago, since reading your post of your experience with adding your main rig etc. so I will let you know how mine goes JD, wish me luck.

Good luck
I'm looking forward to your success Daniel
Mine may of failed since I continued browsing online & not sure if I needed to disable the AV but I didn't do that either.
Fun, fun fun
I Did the (from Main Rig) "http://server/connect" + Run after getting there, to get the Connector software installed, that pretty slick.
Then I figured I'd do a manual BU tonight.

I wish my Homeserver system was 64-bit capable. I have been looking at possibly selling it and getting a small and relatively cheap 64-bit compatible system with 1-2TB of storage and an Intel Atom processor.

YAY, my backup was successful, (course I am definitely gonna need more HD space since my WHS Vail only has a total of maybe 500GB and I know that is not enough ) I only backed up part of my drive C since I knew I was HD space challenged

Careful before buying, not every Atom processor is 64-bit capable ; though last time I checked them out (few months ago) I think Intel was talking about phasing out the 32-bit ones...

I got the backup working, as I said, so I went on to set up remote access, which seemed to work, but when I try to sign in to the website I get this message; {The user name or password is incorrect. Verify that CAPS LOCK is off, and then retype your user name and password. If you continue to experience problems, contact the person who manages your network.}
I am quite sure it is the same as my windows live account, but it is not letting me in

OT: Hi Julian, Its good to see you again, I hope all is well
------------------------------------------------------
I backed up one of the test rigs yesterday w/ no problems/ hiccups. 198.8 GB in 4 hrs., 28 min.
The last backup (last week) using the v. 1 of WHS it took approx. 5 hrs.
I left the main rig backing up last night & its still whirring away (@ approx 55%), it has 633.7 GB of stuff.
The last backup (last week) using the v. 1 of WHS it took just under 17 hrs, I'm hoping this time (w/ v. 2) it'll be faster.

Weird that Home Server Vail X64 formats part of the disk(s) as FAT32.
I still am not able to remotely connect to the dumb thing, and it is playing havoc with my other computers internet connectivity on the network.

I am able to connect locally but not over the internet.
My Remote Access is goofed up too & it keeps complaining/ blaming my router for the problem.
I've tried the repairs in remote access, opened the ports in the Server firewall & made sure the 3- ports (from previous WHS #'s 80, 443 & 4125) are forwarded, but still no joy here w/ that.
Have you tried a backup restore yet?
