NEED HELP WITH HARDDRIVE!!

Postby Sisco22 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 3:37 pm

Hey guys,
I've got a major problem. My 1TB Seagate Barracuda drive is not detecting. I have a ton of stuff on this thing and need to get it off there. The drive spins up fine, no clicking or anything. But it is unrecognizable by windows. Any clue as to what i can do to get it to see it again??
Thanks.

Yes, i tried both different cables, and different computers. I can get windows 7 to see it as a device, but it doesn't do anything..windows xp will not recongize it at all.

that is what im afraid of. i will call them and see what they say. it seems like the controller board has failed. so, i was thinking about trying to find a bad drive with a good board and see if i can switch them and try to recover the data. a friend at work did that and it worked...but not sure it will in this case. 50/50 chance. but i will probably call seagate and see what they say.
