Can't see partition after W7 upgrade, but OK in XP
my laptop came with a pre-installed Vista OEM and a Toshiba system vol.
Then, I made a smaller partition booting XP (also NTFS)
Then, I lost and re-installed vista, using Vistabootpro, XP came back, but drv. letters were reversed - Vista off larger partition ="c", and XP off smaller partition = "C" (how did I do that?)
Now, I upgraded to Win 7(home premiu) (while running Vista on larger partition) and smaller partition disappeared. also, an extra hidden D: (fat) appeared... but Boot options were Win 7, vista(recovered) and "an older version of Widows".
selecting this, a second option came up - Xp and XP, the first being XP off C:\windows.o (selected by mistake, but working well now) and an incomplete OS off c:\winnneeewww.
I'd like to keep my old XP and my smaller partition ...
please help me out on:
- vista bootloader is for win 7?
- syst bootloader instal option for what drives?
- I have another D: (not hidden) for a flash drive - won't this mess things up?
- how to rename my drives to match under both OS?
I admit : those (like me) who know just a bit are those who can really mess things up..)
thank yo in advance ..
Alex

note: XP boots off second, smaller partition(system) and it sees larger partition too...

Re: Can't see partition after W7 upgrade, but OK in XP
solved the problem - i think it was related to having 2 primary system partitions... after re-install of W7 from windows hard drive partitions management, partition became secondary, than and using vistabootpro with longhorn bootloader it became active, system again and remained visible.
thanks for your help...
