whenever you try to make a backup of the system image and choose the optical drive. windows 7 says you have to format the media first.

even if you are using dvd-r media so it fails every time

why did they make it so buggy to get an image of your hard drive?

Have you tried making a backup and saving it onto your hard drive, then transferring the backup to the CD or DVD? I know it adds another step, but at least you could get your backup done.

Even tho u use DVD-R just click format
it will detect DVD-R then and not format and put image on disk

Or if you want to, goto Microsoft.com and read up on sysrep and imagex then make your own images.
