I agree about Avast Daniel, and also it was one of the few if not the only one that consistently worked throughout Vista and Windows 7 beta testing.

No one using Microsoft Security Essentials?

I find it great. Obviously it runs well with W7, had no problems at all.

My NOD32 is about to expire. I just installed Windows 7.

1) Renew NOD32 (they will let me upgrade to version 4) for the renewal price $27.99/yr or $49.99/2 yrs

or

2) Go with Avast?

I have Avast on both my desktops and love it but I've been using NOD32 on my laptop for years and wonder if it's worth paying to renew it.

You can download and install version 4 at any time. That is one of the cook things with a Nod32 subscription, you can upgrade to their latest software at any time during your subscription.

I would test out version 4 before your subscription expires and if you like it, renew. If not, change to Avast.

Of course with me and NOD32, I always use the latest version. ESET tells me when a new release comes out also.

I am running strictly win 7 now for business and games and all. All with NOD32. The only problem I have found with Win7 is that Nero 7 Scout uses 30% processor 100% of the time. When I disabled it, I wnet to 0 to 1% usage at idle now.

I've had positive experiences both with NOD32 and with Microsoft Security Essentials.

I'm actually moving towards preferring Microsoft Security Essentials to NOD32 these days.

I have been running NOD32 for quite awhile and am very pleased. It works on 7 and I have yet to have a problem with it installed. Along with that, if you need a one-off scanner to try, look at Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. That is one kick-butt program!
