Foxxconn BlackOps Troubles

Foxxconn BlackOps Troubles

Postby blodger14 » Fri Oct 30, 2009 3:26 pm

Hi guys, haven't been on here for a while. Mainly due to a lack of PC problems (or at least problems i didn't know how to fix.) But recently I've been having trouble with my BlackOps X48:

Whenever i try to turn my PC on it fails post just before it starts the memory test. It then restarts in safe mode and boots perfectly (as far as i can tell safe mode sets everything to stock to recover from a failed overclock.) However after tinkering around with my overclock and eventually giving up i returned everything in the BIOS to stock, but it still fails the initial POST and has to restart in safe mode before it boots. I know that this system can run stable with at 3ghz (333x9) because it has been for months now (stock is 200x9) and i know its not the ram because its rated at 1600mhz and was running at 1333mhz.

So why is my motherboard failing to post unless its in safe mode??

Cheers in advance for the help.

Did you do a clear bios with moving a jumper on the MB or just manually reset certain things

hmmm, opened it up to clear cmos but decided i would try it one more time. Seems to work fine, even at 3ghz without resetting the cmos. Still a little concerned as to what caused this to happen in the first place though.

It could be any number of things,
The compound between the CPU and cooler may need to be replaced from age and heat

The version of bios you are using could be flawed in some way

The CPU could itself be going bad, I have gotten bad CPU's out of the box and also had them go bad over time from OC'ing

well it could be the cpu, its been running with a 67% overclock for over 3 years now. I have been meaning to get a new one for a while.

EDIT: actually now i look, on the occasions it fails to post, it only finds 1 core so it does look like i need a new cpu asap
