Re-size The Windows 7 Desktop Icons
Click on any empty space on your desktop, hold the Ctrl keyboard key down and use your mouse scroll wheel to either increase or decrease the size of the desktop icons.
This will allow one to make them smaller or larger than the defaults one gets using the right click Desktop>View settings.
The text size of the icon description doesn't seem to change as can be seen in the screen shots below, in which the icons range in size from the ridiculous to the absurd
