dialup 678 error

dialup 678 error

I getting dial up 678 error when I'm trying to dial with my new fax modem card
am using XP sp2 I think
I didn't Install its driver from the it's CD

Not many folk using dial up here. It just makes sense you need to install the drivers for your modem. I found this with google:

Error 678 Computer you are dialing in to is not answering. Try again later.

. Cancel the call if not connected within seconds.

Create a new dialing location

. Wrong phone number is being dialed -set Dialing Properties in Control Panel, Modems.

Make sure Connect only at this speed is not checked.

Uncheck Redial

. See if l or area code needs to be dialed for long distance.

Have them dial the number on their handset.

Line problems; hang up and dial again.

Change modem driver
