Windows 7 Installation DVD

Windows 7 Installation DVD

Does anyone know whether a single DVD will include all versions of the release like that of Vista in the final media? From a Vista DVD one is able to install any ranging from Home Basic through to Ultimate.

Also, will one be able to install without a key and then have days before having to insert a key and activate?

My impression is that the W7 DVDs will install the specific version only that's printed on the box --- but there is a known hack to unlock the other versions from the contents of your DVD, if that is indeed the choice that MS has made. -- But we'll only really *know* after the W7 becomes available to the general public ...

OTOH all W7 bits seem to be shipping with both 32-bit and x64.

Also, yes the blank product key can still be used, and yes the 30-day trial period can still be extended 3 times.

It'll be interesting to see if the Windows 7 .ISO (w/ Ultimate key), that the TechBeta participants Dl on next Thursday, will show the various editions or go right into the "Where do you want to install Windows?" wdo.

Occasional last minute changes can be made, and are often made, before the Gold certified RTM is released -- not actual changes to the code, but to such accessories as the installation protocols, inability to use certain leaked product keys when this occurs after RTM but prior to any actual public release, and so on.

But this does sound a lot like one will after all be able to choose one's version during setup ^*^
