Trying to check out Mac OS on VM

Trying to check out Mac OS on VM

Postby yeshuas » Wed May 06, 2009 9:52 pm

I found this Mac OS Leopard that is suppose to be a pre-configured VM that you use in VMWare Workstation, but I can't seem to get it to work. Can someone instruct me as to which file I am to use to get this thing going, so I can check out Mac.

My guess would be the one that i highlighted. If that doesn't work, try using the import wizard to import the VM into your setup.

My Leopard CD doesn't have that anywhere when I pop it into my XP machine. Do you have to have VMware installed or am I just not using the retail version of Leopard? (I have the one that came with my Mac).

This was a pre-configured VM thing that I found on the web, just wanted to see what Mac Leopard was all about or at least see it. For this one it stated that it required VMWare Workstation

I let that screen set for an hour and it just stayed that way, and never did anything.

Hmm... I would recommend just going to an Apple store for an hour and playing around with their computers. I'm not even sure this VMware thing is entirely on the up-and-up because I don't think Apple wants people running OS X virtually (unless maybe it is on a machine running OS X).

I think that it may get hung there if it's missing the TPM chip or workaround that came out like a year ago. Apple's EULA says that it can't run on anything but Apple hardware I think (if you get really technical about it). Just one of the reasons that I don't like things that the company makes, even if it does tend to be more stable (sometimes)
