How to check what distro of Ubuntu 9.04

Postby yeshuas » Sun Apr 26, 2009 2:59 pm

Is there a way to check what distro of Ubuntu you are using from the terminal or somewhere?

I downloaded Ubuntu 9.04 and created a second instance of a VM in VM Server to fold with, but stopped it because it wasn't doing as well as I had hoped.

Now I didn't burn it to a CD but had the VM use the downloaded iso file, which I had done with the first one using Ubuntu 8.04 distro that I had paused while I setup the second one with Ubuntu 9.04. While in the second instance VM I downloaded the FAH monitor to the desktop, but after I stopped it and restarted the first one the download was on the original 8.04 VM, so I am thinking that somehow it may have replaced the Ubuntu 8.04 distro.

Ok it is still version 8.04, but how did the download of FAH monitor get on the desktop of that VM when I downloaded it to the desktop of 9.04 when I had it running and the 8.04 version was paused??????

I'm a n00b in VM and in *nix, maybe someone has an answer.
