open suse and vista
I recently was playing with Opensuse and it started to install, so now win bootloader gives me the option to boot vista or continue with the suse instalation. I can not get rid of the options.
The suse option does not show up in the list of operating systems but in the detail listing I see it under "Real-mode Boot Sector". I can't seem to figure out how to remove it.
Using Vista Boot pro under the "View BCD Registry Settings/all" I get the following' listing

Re: open suse and vista
Have you run VBP and tried to remove the listing for it under the "Manage OS Entries" tab if it is there.
If it is not there run diagnostics,then check to see if it is there and delete it.

Re: open suse and vista
If it uses GRUB which it does judging by the path \grldr.mbr you need to boot to the Vista DVD, at the Install now setup screen select Repair your computer and then from the menu that appears select the Command Prompt and run the following command: /fixmbr
GRUB records itself in the mbr and this is the only way I've been able to get rid of it in the past.

Re: open suse and vista
Boot off the Vista Install disk and go System Recovery on the main screen. Select the fix start up problems. This will re write your MBR.
Re: open suse and vista
Thanks, but none of the above worked, I finally just set the wiat time to 1 and put up with the pause. I will need to rebuild this some time and it will go away then.

Rich, try this command from the command prompt in Vista - you may need to right click the command prompt and select run as administrator, or go to safe mode to be able to delete the entry:
bcdedit /delete {417d23ab-02b2-11de-9098-0016366feb4a} description "openSUSE 11.1 installer (LOCAL)"
or just
bcdedit /delete {417d23ab-02b2-11de-9098-0016366feb4a}
Probably a good idea to backup your BCD before you do.
