Dual Boot w/ Adaptec Sata Raid

Dual Boot w/ Adaptec Sata Raid

Postby Legion455 » Thu Feb 19, 2009 9:42 pm

Hi all,

This post might be a bit premature because I haven't read very much so far, ... (didn't see a general how-to manual)

My original sys is Win Xp Home loaded on an Adaptect SATA Raid Controller (2810 using 2 HD set for Raid 1).

I installed another hard Drive on the SATA port of the Motherboard , and loaded Vista on the new hard Drive...
which forces the Adaptec drives to D:.

So how would I use Vista Boot Pro to setup a dual boot on my weird system?

Or maybe I need to install Vista on a different partition, etc, etc,?

or maybe put the single SATA drive on the Adaptec? (I've never tried that)

Anyway, ... any help getting me started in the right direction would be appreciated ever so much!

thanks in advance,
Allen

Well, I've made some progress ...

I can now boot either XP or Vista, ... but to do so, I must first gointo the BIOS and select the "first hard drive" or "boot hard drive".
XP was loaded first.

Last question, .. is there a way to use Vista Boot Pro to setup the boot menu for me?

thanks again
