Re: Browser Hijacking
My IE & my Firefox browsers in WinXP Pro SP3 have been hijacked. I have tried SpySweeper, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, BulletProof Spyware Remover. I have tried in normal mode as admin & in safe mode as admin. Even after re-booting my browsers get re-directed to like travel ad sites, or info.com, etc.
I can't even go to Major Geeks with out being re-directed. I looked at HiJack This, but I don't think I understand it well enough to change things.
Never had this happen before, until I let my 20 year old Step_son use my computer for 20 minutes.

Not yet, afraid I might loose too much data & other stored info & settings.

Re: Browser Hijacking
I just tried MalwareBytes. Looks like it may have cleaned up both browser problems. Thanks for the help & the tip on restore point by m$.

Re: Browser Hijacking
Also remember that System Restore does NOT alter/remove/otherwise mess with data - it only deals with system files........... now if you installed an APPLICATION, that is different, as it would be affected, but not any data you saved using the application.

yes this is true. here is a quote from MS
When you use System Restore, you can revert to a saved state without losing personal data including Word documents, e-mail settings and messages, and your Internet favorites list. System Restore won't lose any data you have stored in the My Documents, My Pictures, or My Music folders either.
work like you don't need the money... love like you've never been hurt.. and dance like nobody's watching
