Windows Vista Access Server 2003 Shadow Copy?

Windows Vista Access Server 2003 Shadow Copy?

Postby mnemonicj » Tue Feb 10, 2009 5:35 am

I have a Windows Server 2003 domain controller and two Windows Vista Business clients that used to have Windows XP Professional (did a clean install of Vista). I used to have Server 2003 Shadow Copy set up perfectly with XP. The Previous Versions tab would always provide a months worth of previous versions of files from my shared folders on the server. I had to install the Shadow Copy client on each client PC, but it worked great.

Now I have Vista and it won't even run the Shadow Copy client software because it has its own version of the software called Previous Version already built in to the OS. I can see all of the previous versions of the files that are on my Vista machines, but when I open the Previous Versions tab of the Windows Server 2003 shared folder, it says there are no previous versions of the file even though I can see them by logging onto the server.

What can I do to get the Vista clients to see the previous versions of the files on the server?
