Invalid system disk at Win 7 at boot

Invalid system disk at Win 7 at boot

Postby johnfeld » Thu Jan 29, 2009 12:24 am

Win 7 install from DVD went OK, however on reboot it always shows 'invalid system disk" press any key. It then boot to Win 7 OK if Win 7 DVD is in a drive. My setup includes XP OS and a Vista OS. This message comes before the boot screen. Win 7 was installed on a new parition and gave it a drive letter. Prior to Win 7 install, it booted from Vista OK. Even tried the Win 7 System Repair disc but it found nothing wrong. I hate to have to leave the disk in the drive just to boot. Any ideas? Thanks

I would suggest checking your disk for errors, or maybe trying another Windows 7 disk, i.e. burn another one and burn it at no more than 4x

Seems to me that the necessary files and folder are not gettign copied over to the hidden 200 mg partition

If you install Windows 7 after having Vista already installed it doesn't create the hidden 200 MB partition

I already knew that about Vista.
I think Im going to use Gparted to create my partition and then install Win7 on one of them.

Athough What I am try to accomplish is when people get a computer pre-installed with Win7, how can they get XP installed. Taht shoudl be the main concern right now. We all know upgradign is easy but down grading is the task in hand.

I was only referring to Johnfeld situation, since he had OS already installed Windows 7 would not create the 200 MB partition sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yeah up here when it get really cold, our acts up lagging and stopping all together at times, for whatever reason, and now Comcast has the Extreme 50 (50Mbps) available but it is 142.95 all by itself, I would love to try it just to see how fast it is.

I know this is quite old, but do you have any hidden partitions present on that hard drive ?
