Acer AL1716 LCD Monitor dying? YUP!
He guys, my monitor is on, but it flips to the Acer screen then black screen and when the desktop fianally shows it flickers for a while, then gets brighter, then settles down. Are these signs that its dying on me? Its a yr old now. TIA
Re: Acer AL1716 Monitor dying?
It could be drivers for your graphics or your monitor that have become corrupted. If you update them and then find the same problem you'll eliminate that cause. Also, I'd say check your connections and power plug are firmly plugged in everywhere
How long is your warranty JoAnn?

Drivers can get corrupted There are drivers for the monitor available at softpedia but they are a bit old. Maybe you can get newer ones from Acer's site...here's a link to Acer's Driver Detective
If you let us know what graphics card you have on your system (right click My Computer>Manage>Device Manager>Display Adapter) we can help you find updated ones.

Yes, that's it and you can get new drivers from NVIDIA
Hopefully that and newer monitor drivers solves your issue

You may also check to make sure you don't have some dust build up aroound the inside of your system causing heat also check your video card to make sure it is not heating up because of dust

Re: Acer AL1716 LCD Monitor dying?
I checked my driviers and they appear up to date
The latest one for th monitor is May 07 and I got this monitor in Dec 07.
When its working like right now after several hard reboots, its just fine, so I'm thinking the monitor is ok, but something is not transfering correct from my hard drive.
What do you guys think?
If I walk away and leave it up for a while, I come back to a black screen with the Acer logo showing up intermitantly.
An settings I can check? I may be doomed to take it in to my tech eh
TIA
