Is that on Hardware RAID via the BIOS or software using something like Intels RAID Matrix Daniel?
It is Intel Matrix Storage
I'd say try hardware RAID, I'm sure your motherboard supports it perfectly. You probably have the Intel ICH9 Southbridge. I've always been wary of software RAID. I must say though that RAID0 doesn't really give me much of a boost in read and write or seek times. Major disadvantage of course is possible data loss. With my shaky power situation here (because of all the electrical storms lately) I can't risk being plugged in when there's a storm. I learned fast that a power outage or surge scrambles my RAID0 setup real good.
Data loss due to hardware failure is a bit of non factor in my opinion, with MTBF's of something like a million hours even cutting that in half (which RAID0 effectively does because the likelihood of one of two drives failing is greater than that of a single drive failing...go figure), is more than enough for me to live with.

I have a SATA disk and I'm getting a score of 5.3. It may even be a SATA I disk on a SATA II port, I don't remember which drive(s) are new in my system

Re: Windows 7 Hard Drive Performance Rating
Then you have the Intel ICH10R Southbridge too with 6 x SATA 3Gb/s connections and support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10
Very nice motherboard by the way.

And the Intel Matrix storage from what I understand in my User Guide also is used for the ICH10R Southbridge, I followed the directions to set it up

Re: Windows 7 Hard Drive Performance Rating
Did you set it up in the BIOS or via Disk Management in Windows?

First I selected Raid mode in the bios, and then during boot I hit Ctrl I which takes you to the Matrix setup where you choose which Raid you want, etc.

Then it is "hardware RAID". The Intel Raid matrix thingy threw me off totally because using that software it is possible to create a "software RAID"
