Okay, found it. Go into Life with Playstation then press and hold the square button. A menu should appear with Folding @ Home on it. Whilst holding down the square button, scroll down to the Folding @ Home option and release square. This should take you into the F@H client. Now press triangle, choose Current Channel, Choose Identity and "Join existing team" is in there.

BTW, PS3s are capped around ~900 PPD though they are capable of much more than that.
