PS3 folding questions
Briefly, what all is involved with folding with a Playstation 3; i.e. does it run in the background, does it affect the performance while running and playing a game at the same time?

Re: PS3 folding questions
my step dad is, i set it up..
after you install F@H on the PS3, you run it. it runs when your not doing anything, however you have to tell it to run, it doesn't just start on its own. so while your gaming you have nothing to worry about, and when you have it running its very fast.

It is under Life with Sony or Playstation or something like that. I did not see anywhere to enter like a team number or user name or whatever

Press the triangle button and it should bring up an options menu. Select "Identity", select "Join an existing team" and enter PRO's team number. Hit the Start button to confirm the choice.

I searched everywhere and tried to find the identity setup and no luck I can see it is working although it isn't fast like my GPU folding is, but I can't find anywhere to add identity or team or anything else, just start and auto-start and whatever.
This is a brand new Playstation 3 and isn't even backward compatible with the Playstation 2 games so maybe that makes a difference.

No, shouldn't do. The system software is exactly the same regardless of which model PS3 you've got. I'll have to check mine tonight but last time I used the Folding client on the PS3 the triangle option from within the Folding@Home software definitely gave you the options menu.
Edit - From the Playstation US boards...
While in Life with PlayStation, press Triangle > Identity > Join Existing Team > ....

Re: PS3 folding questions
When I press the triangle button, I don't get the option to join existing team
I get
Start
Auto-start (which has a submenu with time intervals)
Delete

Re: PS3 folding questions
Is that from within the folding app itself or just from within the Life with Playstation app?
