SMP has pinned two cores and is running nicely.:) According to what I've read I should be getting some 700PPD extra doing that. I won't know for sure until I can compile FahMon on Ubuntu which is evading me ATM. :bashhead

I can't wait until I get my second GPU going but this is success enough for me ATM.:) I'm quite surprised at how similar Ubuntu is to Windows on the GUI end but still quite a mystery as to the CLI though I'm slowly getting it.

'sudo apt-get install augie'!

Don't worry about getting FahMon working in Ubuntu.

Do like I did and cheat.

Just make the working folder for the SMP client in Ubuntu shared.
Then add it to your Windows FahMon. :yesnod:

Here is how I added it on mine... of course you'll have to figure out the correct network address for yours.

Code: Select all
\\WILLIAM-UBUNTU\fah\

It's very simple and sure as heck beats fooling with getting FahMon working in Ubuntu.

Thanks Bill but I can't share the FAH folder, seems like I'm missing permissions.

'cannot open usershare directory /var/lib/samba/usershares' Permissions denied. Contact the administrator. :roleeyes

I was looking at installing samba before but the guides are confusing me for now. Perhaps all that's needed is a simple sudo command? This is my first real time working with *nix. Good to see another folder have experience in this! ^*^ I'm out for the night.

Pretty soon I'll have my Phenom AM2+ X4 9650 with a 9800GTX video card............... all I'm waiting on is the CPU........... :yesnod:
Already had Vista Ult.x64 installed on the system when I had the 9950 CPU installed, but ran the BIOS update and that killed the 9950 support :-x Still planning on building a 9950 supported system early this spring - it may be a dedicated Win7 system. Hard to believe how far the PRO folding team has progressed ^*^

That's great Kev! a 9800GTX will fit right in to our mix. :yesnod: ^*^ Ya, we've done great these last few months as several folk started GPU folding. I hope to get my second 9800GT going this week as I'm waiting for a VGA dummy plug to arrive. Fun,. fun fun!

I'll be picking up a 9800GT or Radeon 4830 as well soon enough. ^*^ Probably the 4830 because it OC's better.

Anyways just reinstalled Windows (back to the future... Vista!) and will get the SMP back up and running. Also found out the family desktop had stopped running it for one reason or another (thus my dramatic drop in points), so I gotta turn that back on.

Nice. That setup should get you about 12k to 14k a day.

At some point, I'd like to keep up with you folks and get a quad-core i7 chip with GTX 280 video card, but I spent a little much over Christmas and have a few other things that I need to pay for up-coming. Someday I may be able to get more than just one WU every other day though.
