Motherboard & CPU bites the dust, (Edited)

I believe my P5W DH deluxe MB bit the dust.

I downloaded and installed DVD Fab 5 and had to reboot to complete the install.

When it rebooted, I got some message like it could not find the CD/DVD drive and then it could not find the USB device.

I shut it off and restarted it again and that time nothing. Fans turned etc, but no beep no harddrive activity nothing.

Tested the power supply, it is fine.

Fortunately it is still under warranty, so I am going to send it to ASUS. I am a dealer so they will cross ship me a different one if I want, that way I will get the replacement a lot faster.

It is my test machine and had Windows 7 X64 and X86 on it so it is really not a necessity to get it that fast but what the heck. LOL

Sounds like it is time for a new board.

I take it you already did the obvious things like trying to boot with only the essentials connected and clearing the bios?

Yes disconnected everything, removed the memory, cleared the bios.

Board does nada, not even a beep

Does it beep if you try to start it without memory installed or a video card?

*EDIT* I believe that board has the fail safe bios.

Try holding down the INSERT key during power on. If it is a corrupt bios issue, it should get you to the bios flash screen.

Not sure if this works with USB keyboards, so may want to try a PS2 keyboard.

I just tried your keyboard trick and it didn't help either.

Going to contact ASUS tomorrow and start the RMA going.

that happens to my board too (rampage)

usually due to settings it didnt like

what i do is put one stick in the furthest slot, and hit the juice, it usually reverts to factory settings and i can proceed to do my thing. my p5k was the same way heheh. i know this might sound crazy, but one way you can prolong your boards life is to leave it on all the time, only shut it off for maintenance. when you pwer up your system, you are basically shocking it to life. plus the thermal dynamics of being on and off, themal contraction comes into play, things move a lil and one thing leads to another, and next thing you know bad words you might not have known you knew are suddenly everywhere. ^*^
