A Digital Age Deserves A Digital Leader

getting video off my camera to my computer.... how?

Postby ar1stotle » Thu Dec 11, 2008 10:04 pm

... does it have DV out? I don't believe you can use USB to get the video off. I've only seen that video cameras can get video to the comp with a DV cable (and you're probably going to need a firewire port on your computer). Then you need something like Adobe Premiere (the only software I've ever used for capturing video) to record it onto your computer.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I did a lot of stuff with this.

I use to Upload the Videos off my Hi-8 video camera years ago using a Adaptec PCI Video capture card & S-Video or Composite Video & Audio wires. The card came w/ video edit software (Sonic).

I assume your camera is digital?

If your camera has DV out (like most mini-dv camcorders) then the video card shouldn't matter.

Here's a DV cable

You just need something that can interface with the camera. There's probably lots of software out there. I've just only used Adobe Premiere.
