Vista SP2 Beta Install and Testing

Postby Grav!ty » Mon Dec 08, 2008 2:24 am

Having found the download links for the Microsoft Vista SP2 Beta Customer Preview Program, I downloaded the 32-Bit standalone version - Windows6.0-KB948465-X86.exe - which comes in at 388 MB.

Unlike previous Service Packs, SP2 does not include the updates provided by SP1, which means that SP2 must be applied only to installations of Windows Vista SP1.

It took exactly 20 minutes from the time of executing the update file to the time I rebooted to the Vista desktop. So far I've done no testing at all but my installation seems to be perfectly stable. There's a list of some of the changes included in SP2 HERE

Oh, I did expect to get text on the bottom right of the screen indicating that this was an evaluation build but nothing like appeared.

Here are some screenshots starting with the new Windows Version:

Dang! I just restarted and sure enough the text appeared. It's not a big deal anyway.
