Windows Server 2008 as a Desktop Operating System

My first installation of Server 2008 was an update from server 2003 SP2 , which went smooth. I have it installed for the past month now ( I needed it in order to upgrade my MCSE 2003 to MC 2008 TS , a certification I got a few days ago ). It is fine , works great , has a tone of features to work with and although many drivers for the machine are missing ( installed on an IBM x225 , dual Xeon@2,4GHz , 1 GB memory , an ATI 8MB graphics card ) it operates like it should be. I think it will be better after it is out for good as many drivers will be out for it since it is based a lot on the driver signing thing.

I've been using Server 2k8 Beta for quite a while now in a VM environment, testing a few bits and pieces here and there with a view to getting our datacentre up to date (upgrading Win 2k server to 2k3 then, eventually, 2k8). It's, actually, quite a good OS. The Beta was a bit twitchy with regards to memory management but that may, simply, have been because it was a VM rather than a physical machine.
It was a bit too graphics-heavy for a Server OS for my liking but, other than that, no complaints here!

Good thread Graham
Last night I was trying some tweaks on Server 2008 RTM Enterprise x86 & after I created another user(a administrator), disabled Ctrl-Alt-Delete to log on & user PW. I noticed that the UAC was turned on now, for that new user while not for the origonal admin, its a cinch to turn off as in Vista
Edit: Ya, now that Server 2008 is not a beta, a new thread sounds good

Grrrr...Server 2008 X64 is giving me uphill with the *&^%$#@ 64-Bit driver signing enforcment that MS has voisted on us Makes me remember all too vividly why I ditched *&^%$#@ Vista some time back in the first place
I'm now getting the X86 version downloaded and will have to run that instead
P.S. Sorry I let it get to me like that all over again
