Windows Home Server RC CTP Install & Testing
My installation of Windows Home Server RC CTP on a older Dell 'Dimension 4100' P3 @ 1Ghz rig went very smooth & took a total of 1 hour, 23 minutes until I hit the desktop.
I started the installation from the DVD after restarting the PC & hitting any key.
WHS will format all the hard drives & will give you warnings that its going to do that.
Once the installation begins one can leave the PC alone for over an hour as no operator interaction is needed.
After the WHS timer hits '0' minutes the installer begins doing updates, checking your disks & restarting (several times) for another

I did not take any shotshots up front but probably will later on. Adding hard drives is a snap. Just insert the new hard drive and just click on add drive. If you do not add the hard drive then you will see a neetwork error on your work stations. I will see about adding a snapshot later.

With this Windows Home Server RC build one gets a 180 day trial period.
@ Start/ Run/ Winver
BTW this is what my Windows Home Server, Remote Access web site looks like (w/ Add-In), if your thinking about setting one up.

Congratulations on the Website Management button showing up, you sure all you did was reboot
Looking forward to you getting home & hearing your stories

After reading about others OS Restore Successes, I wanted to try that also.
I backed-up Vista Home Premium x86 to WHS RC
Waited about 1/2 hour for the WHS PC to settle down (balancing) & restarted both PCs.
Booted off the Restore CD (I tried the regular & the '512' CDs)
Wizard starting
After the wizard did its thing & couldn't find the SERVER (each or my 3 attempts), I went to the 'Manual' search... no joy w/ that either.
So much for me having any PC Restore success today with Windows Home Server RC.
