Well I was still using IE6 until I saw this thread and decided to jump in and download IE 7.
I didnt want to loose my menu bar , then did some searching around and found that I could still add it on.
I actually found that my system is running quite a bit faster than it had been.

I still use IE6 when I have to, FF2 now. I might try it though one day when I have nothing better to do. The beta really threw me for a loop so I'm skittish.

The w3 stats up there answer it best, but I know so far *none* of the computers I manage (College of Engineering at WVU) run IE7, and that's ~100 in labs and quite a few more throughout Administration, because it's technically not supported by the web based stuff we run (especially for administration, both a web based Citrix front end and an Oracle front end).
I think in general, businesses (and other large organizations, like Universities that still use Windows) have learned to wait for the first service packs before upgrading IE, Office, and Windows ...
As for the page, the disclaimer should do just fine, anyone has a gripe, add a "not displaying correctly?" link and point people to IE7 and FF ...

The main problem with the statistical data is that they don't tell you how they collected the information, what sample size they used, and how they did the sampling.
If they don't mention the stuff then it's pretty much unreliable.
Just on a note, IE7 de-integrates IE from Windows Explorer shell... so faster performance should be expected

These facts indicate that the browser figures above are not 100% realistic. Other web sites have statistics showing that Internet Explorer is used by at least 80% of the users".
