Note that this guide covers slipstreaming of the 64-Bit Service Pack 2 into ones original copy of Windows XP Professional X64 Edition. The files and file structures used are different to those of Windows XP 32-Bit and a guide for doing that for Windows XP 32-Bit can be found here: Windows XP SP2 Slipstreamed

Preparation

In Windows Explorer make sure that in Tools>Folder Options>View you:

Show hidden files and folders

Deselect Hide extensions for known file types

Deselect Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

Tools you will need

1. Your Windows XP Pro X64 installation disc (it went RTM with SP1 if I remember correctly)

2. WinRAR (I used WinRAR to extract the Service Pack because the application switches I tried did not work)

3. ISO Buster from Smart Projects to extract the Microsoft Corporation.img file from the XP Pro X64 installation CD. The trial unregistered copy of ISO Buster works fine.

4. SP2 X64 (WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB914961-SP2-x64-ENU.exe) from Microsoft

Step 1.

Create the following new folders on your C:\ Drive (change this to whatever your Windows XP boot drive is):

XPX64

XPX64BootImage

XPX64SP2

And

Copy the entire contents of your XP Pro X64 CD to the folder XPX64

Copy SP2 X64 (WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB914961-SP2-x64-ENU.exe) to the folder XPX64SP2

Extract the Microsoft Corporation.img file from your XP Pro X64 CD using ISO Buster and copy it to the folder XPX64BootImage

Step 2.

Extract the contents of SP2 X64 using WinRAR, to the folder XPX64SP2 that you created earlier.

If anyone knows what command line to run from start>run to extract SP2 X64 given drive C: and the folder XPX64SP2 please let us know.

Step 3.

Now Integrate/Slipstream SP2 X64 into your old XP Pro X64 CD with the following command line (start>run):

C:\XPX64SP2\amd64\Update\Update.exe -S:C:\XPX64

For the above commands to work you need to have created exactly the same file structure as indicated above. If you have used a hard drive or partition with a different drive letter then that needs to changed accordingly.

Now burn your Slipstreamed Windows XP Professional X64 Edition SP2 CD

Open Nero Burning ROM 7 and select "CD-ROM (Boot)" on the left.

Go to the Boot tab, select "Image file" and browse to the folder XPX64BootImage where you stored the Microsoft Corporation.img file.

Select "Enable expert settings" and then make sure you choose "No Emulation and that "Number of loaded sectors" is changed to 4

Go to the Label tab and give it your original XP Pro X64 label. This is not essential though.

Now select New at the bottom of the Nero page and then select the contents of the folder XPX64 into which you intergrated the SP2 X64 service pack, and add all contents to your compilation.

Following this process worked perfectly for me. I tested my new XP Pro X64 SP2 installation CD and setup and installation went as it should.

Nero 6 should work just fine. You can get the settings to use for it here: Windows XP SP2 Slipstreamed

What version of Nero 7 were you using. The Nero 7 I have is ver 7.11.10.0 and the burning rom doesn't offer any screen like you show in your graphic explination on how to make the Windows XP Professional X64 Edition SP2 Slipstream disc. I can't get Nero 6 to work on my machine anymore due to the fact its a 64bit OS and it refuses to load.
Is there any other program I can use that will give me the same results and let me add the boot image so I have a bootable XP Pro X64 SP2 Slipstream disc ? Or is there something im missing using the verseion of nero that I have ? :question

My copy of Nero 7.10.1.0 Ultra Edition looks like his in the first screenshot (step 3) didn't go beyond that part as don't I have any files ready to prepare.

The code needed to integrate SP2 is

WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB914961-SP2-x64-ENU.exe /integrate:C:\ XPX64

Grav!ty's method works too -- I've used it more than once -- and it has the advantage of keeping everything in discrete folders that you can add stuff to, like extra drivers and so on, if so needed or desired.
