Vista & XP dualboot[RESOLVED]

Postby IvanX » Sun Feb 25, 2007 12:59 am

Hi there guys!

First i had installed Windows Vista Ultimate at C drive, then i wanted to install XP on another one to make it dualboot. After i did it i could only boot into XP but somehow (was messing with VistabootPRO) now i can boot only to Vista. When i select to boot to XP in boot menu it gives me an error. (something with /ntldr). Is there any way i can make it working?

And check down the screenshot of my settings from Vistaboot PRO, i'm not sure did i set it right.

TIA

Ivan

For XP to be able to boot you need NTDETECT.COM as well as the two files mentioned by yeshaus, to be on the System drive, which in your case appears to be your Vista installation.

EDIT: I'm going to move this thread to our Vista Chat & Support Forum

Thanks heaps guys but can you tell me where are these files located and where should i copy them. When i said drive i meant partition so both OS's are on same HDD just different partitions. Also what do i need to do after copying those files to partition where Vista is installed?

Sorry for asking too much.

Thanks

Make sure folder view settings are set to not hide hidden files and folders and also to not hide protected operating system files. Then you should be able to see them on your XP drive/partition and just copy them and paste them to the root (not in any folder - like where you find them) of your Vista drive/partition, which if you look at that scrnenshot you posted is marked as System.

You may have to adjust your boot.ini but give that a try and then lets take it from there.
