boot.ini
NTDETECT.COM
ntldr
Boot (folder and contents)
bootmgr

You can just copy and paste from one to the other untill they are all one each OS drive/partition

Then run diagnostics again and see what the result is.

On to the root of the drive - not in any folder :yesnod:

Make sure you have folder view settings marked to show hidden files and folders and do not hide hidden operating system files

Those 5 files must NOT be in any folder but on the root of the drive. They won't be found if they are in a folder and having them in the Windows folder serves no purposes at all.

Once you have them where they should be, run diagnostics in VistaBootPRO and see what you get

OK --- here's a method.

Create a temporary 10 GB partition somewher in your rig.

Then boot from your XP CD, and install XP to that partition.

Then edit boot.ini so that it can see your current XP ; test ; then remove the line pertaining to the temp XP, reboot and test ; then delete the temp XP partition and boot option.

Install VBP in XP, then restore the Vista boot loader ...
