I've been hacked

I've been hacked

Postby Xstream » Tue Jan 16, 2007 11:55 pm

I got an email from ebay today, someone hacked my account and posted 50 auctions in 1 day, running me up $195 in ebay fees. Ebay caught it and disabled my account.
I had to do an online chat with them, and answer qeustions to prove who I was before they would reacivated my account.
My question about it is, HOW did they et my password, and WHY did I not get any listing confirmation emails from ebay?
Ebay assured me that the confirmation emails were sent out, so now I think my email was hacked as well. So I got all new passwords for my paypal, email and ebay.
So I'm wondering if I have a keylogging program on my pc. My ZA comes out clean.
what else can I try?

Whoa! That's really odd........... it's entirely possible you did nothing, and these crackerz just figured out your password, but then that might be an ebay problem as well. Not sure what to tell you, as not really sure what you've surfed/navigated to and such, or your email activities....... although I would azzume you know the deal with potential phishing.........

I'm sure there are ways for the 'badguys' to scan for usernames or users and use whatever password attacking tools they have; they don't have to rely on phishing, but it probably makes it easier

Lately there seems to have been an explosion of compromised eBay accounts ... just yesterday I noticed someone had 239 auctions, mostly 17" Apple Macbooks, but only 42 feedback points!

Maybe it would be a good idea to create a new email address for eBay/Paypal and set a really strong password :yesnod:

Here is the Symantec removal tool for MyDoom. It is a backdoor tool which can be used to slip in keyloggers and all kinds of stuff. Follow the directions and you should be good to go. I would possibly back my personal files up and then do a low level format. But that is going a bit far.

Sorry for sounding simplistic, can you get into your account directly? Like from a bookmark etc. or just typing it in?
