AVG Free Edition compatible with ZoneAlarm Firewall?

Postby kd1966 » Fri Jan 05, 2007 2:51 am

The only incompatibilities I am aware of, but have yet to see it firsthand, are with ZA Firewall (Free one) and one of the services for Avast! (Free one) AV

Also saw that AVG is "killing" the Free AV (7.1) and replacing with v7.5 (At this point, it appears no more free AV)

Nah, AVG is offering 7.5 free also. It's just not compatible with 7.1 updates anymore so that's why the change. Thank you AVG! ^*^

EDIT: ::Download:: AVG 7.5

Usually AVG Free versions are older AVG versions, but it's good to see them do this sort of thing :yesnod:

I remember good ol' F-Prot in 95. You could make it so that it could detect virus files custom tailored to your specs. I did it once, and it said drive C had 7,000 virus infected files :lol:

Today ALONE, I did 3 replacement installs of the newer AVG 7.5x from the older free version 7.1x...... people still love it, it doesnt' take long (Aside from a new restart requirement.......) and the folks love that (aside from paying me to do the work) it costs NOTHING.......

I have been using AVG Free versions for about 5 years now & using Zone Alarm with it at the same time. I have never had any problems with the two conflicting with each other. I must say I prefer them over many of the others I had tried or had come pre-installed in the past.
So I say 2 thumbs UP!
