I just uninstalled Apache in favor of XAMPP (because MySQL is already installed in that package). How do I change my root password with phpMyAdmin?

gries818,

The easiest way to do this is just to change it using the MySQL command line in windows. You can change the root password in PHPMyAdmin by going to privileges and/or users. This will allow to change it but in order for it to complete, you must open the PHPMyAdmin config file and retype in your password. In this instance, I would use a Power Admin configuration (create a new user) just for certain things. I would constantly use this as the configuration which should not include adding/changing user's or privileges. Then, if you really needed to change something, use the MySQL command line and log in as the root. This is obviously for security.

I tried using the command line but I figured out how to do it the other way you said was possible and found the configuration file to change. Everythings working now.

Thanks!
