This short article introduces some interesting features of Konqueror that may have escaped the casual user's notice. Although long-time Linux user Doug Roberts often used Konqueror as a file manager, he'd never given much thought to its web-browsing capabilities -- until now.

One day, however, Roberts came upon an article on KDE's "People behind KDE" site that woke him up to the KDE app's latent potential. "The interviewer asked Derek Kite 'What is KDE's killer app? And Why?' His answer completely threw me. His answer was, 'Konqueror. Because Linux users are first class citizens for this browser,'" writes Roberts.

Browser? He'd never given much thought to Konqueror's web browsing capabilities, and had recently settled on Opera 9.0, thinking he'd at long last found the browser he had been looking for to run on his Debian Sarge install. "But there it was, already on my system. With Mr. Kite having piqued my curiosity, I thought, 'What the hell. Why not.' And I started using it."

The first thing Roberts noticed was that "Konqueror is really fast as a web browser. No, I mean REALLY fast. It's faster than Opera, which is noted for it's speed." Read the full article here at DesktopLinux.com, for more discoveries Roberts made along his path to concluding that yes, Konqueror is indeed a Linux killer app.
