web address blocking

web address blocking

Postby nightfire » Mon Jun 26, 2006 3:23 am

well, after searching for a while, i have come to the conclusion that my
WR850G router cannot block individual web site URLs. I think i am correct here...It can block ports, but i am looking to block certain websites :whistle

does anyone know how this is possible on the router? Or if not, is there any firmware that can? I know of a few, but i don't remember the names or wether they work on a Motorola WR850G :dontgetit

so, thanks for any help, this will be a great feature to have :)

DD-WRT can block websites and it is compatible with you're router according to the latest releases hardware notes. There are some special flashing notes you should see though. The latest release is v23 SP1 BTW, really nice firmware :yesnod:

well, i have just messed up everything...I tried to install dd wrt, and i think it messed up, and i had to manually restart my router. The internet works fine, but the router cannot be accessed :(

I have tried 192.168.10.1(the default)

192.168.1.1

and when i ran ipconfig, it said my ip was my actual ip address, according to whatismyip.com.

I am starting to think that the connection is just passing from the modem directly into my computer.

Is there any way to fix this brick, i mean this router is nice, but if it is lost, then i can move on.

  (j/k)

do another ipconfig......

pay attention to your gateway address.....

that should be the new ip address to access the router.......

it is probably 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254

Motorola's website MIGHT have a piece of software which can recover the firmware... I know that Linksys, Netgear routers have that function.
