Which is exactly why I tell my customers the "limits" of the protection they are getting when I install AVG Free/AdawareSE/ZA Firewall protections................ I show them safer surfing techniques and such, which I think lots of non-technical people want to know...... "What can I do to avoid getting a virus" or something to that effect. What I've noticed on several occasions is systems with malware running 2 or 3 AV programs; the user got the malware when NIS/Mcafee were installed, so they deduced that if they installed a "better" AV program, it would take care of it..................

Hmm, if I understand you correctly, they were running multiple AV progs at the same time? That would really bring a rig to its knees along with multiple firewalls. A "more is better philosophy" is not the way to go. :roleeyes :no

Correct Augie, the people thought that since the one AV didn't work, they should try some others until one did work...........<eek> And yes, especially the systems with NAV on them, the systems literally would not boot anymore
