Any good Forum Software?

Any good Forum Software?

Postby 3D-Orbit » Fri May 05, 2006 11:27 pm

Hello all,

I am planning on building a website but not sure which forum software is best. Would like something very customizable (such as colors and adding banners on the top of the forum). Does anybody know if http://www.phpbb.com/ is any good or Vbulletin? I am a newbie, so not really sure which one is good. Willing to pay for it, so it doesn't have to be open source. Thanks for any feedback.

if you're willing to pay for it, you should get either vbulletin or ipb. i like ipb the best.

PunBB is good, for you can easly make good css powered boards.

good example; http://forum.multipack.co.uk/

Is something wrong with phpBB? I'm surprised no one is recommending it, as it seems pretty popular.

It's dead, it's buggy, it's ugly, and it's dead :P

(it's slow and incompatible with any new features and has issues on PHP5 and IIS too!)

Interesting... on that note, what forums _are_ good for running on IIS?
