At least get Spybot or Adaware and do the free scans.

You don't have to be inot the other to get spyware. Spysweeper will also keep the "bad" cookies off your system, the ones that track you.

ok thanks, i dont mean to sound like a no0b, but if i have a bad enough issue, ill just take the 15 minutes and reload windows, other than that, i havent really thought about my online safety.. thanks for the heads up, i thought those spyware removers were just a scam, like norton. :O

@Bell: Did you use MS Antispy? I have been on a roll, testing everything in the name of war, and it has better defs IMHO than SS..... Still need to check out this CounterSpy though.

Yes, I beta tested it and wasn't that impressed. In my opinion, MS Antispy's predecessor, Giant was a better program. I lost confidence in MS Antispy after it came out that about the time they were considering acquiring Claria, they updated their program to ignore spyware from....who else...Claria.

I hate to tell you this...but the first scan after a fresh install of Spybot only takes 3 seconds and deosn't find anything...but that's not the real story!! It's typical of the new version of Spybot(1.4). Run it again...you'll see a big difference!
