What is the best anti-virus software out there?

Lots of good advice...but I have one thing to say...

"Never open an e-mail from someone you don't know. Never download an attachment from someone you don't know."

The biggest problem with this is that the virus's(Viri??...viruss??..whatever!!) are SENT from someone that has the virus and has YOU in their Address Book...or at least has your email address on their system! So if an email comes in from "Aunt Sarah"...it may or may not be a virus! 99% of the virus's are contracted by someone opening an email from someone they KNOW!

What you must do is watch what you are doing...if "Aunt Sarah" NEVER sends you an attachment...and then one shows up in your Inbox with an attachment...then it's time to be careful!

Never just "Click-N-Open" an attachment...save it out and scan it first! And if there is a question(like "Aunt Sarah") check with her to make sure she really did send an email with an attachment!

The BIGGEST problem for those of us that use Outlook and Outlook Express and have friends that are on AOL is that almost everything that is "Forward" from AOL comes as an attachment!! Often MANY attachments deep before you get to the "real" email!! I've gone through 7...8...9...10 different layers before getting to the "joke of the week" from my Mom!!

Diligence can make the difference...and running a virus scanner doesn't mean you're a WIMP...it just means you're careful with one of the most expensive toys you have!!
