Hey Guys - it appears my firewall/winsock setup is pretty messed up

I'm getting the "error 10047 address incompatible" error but when I do the netsh winsock reset command, I get:

Unable to reset the Winsock Catalog
The system cannot find the file specified

Any ideas about this one?

never mind - I fixed it

If your Winsock is so screwed up that the 'netsh winsock reset' command doesn't work, you might try the WinsockXPfix program from Snapfiles.com. The downloaded .exe fits snugly on a floppy (which it must, since you have no network connectivity)

For the insane and incompetent, could you explain how to fix the windows firewall/ics not connecting error everyone has been raving about? It has to be in simple terms since I am in a drug induced semi coma state at the moment. Thanks! :embarrassed:

I got the same error when trying to start the IPV6 Helper Service, and your fix solved my problem as well. ^*^

Thanks...

FINALLY!!! I have been trying to resurrect an old PC to use for hardware that Windows 7 dropped or drivers are not yet available for. I won't even tell you how long I have been looking for this fix, as that would be embarrassing! :tapedshut: I intend to return to several sites where others were looking for this very solution and put a link to your site.
Thanks a bunch!
