modem speaker

Postby Randyman » Wed Jan 09, 2002 12:44 am

I have a HP laptop. I have installed all of the driver updates, BUT I can't turn down the volume on the modem speaker. It worked fine with Win ME. I've went back and forth a couple of times between ME & XP, before deciding to put up with XP's quirks. Right now, I have an earphone plugged in so I won't wake up my wife in the morning!

In Device Manager select the modem properties. Here you can adjust the volume using a slider. Some modem show here the extra initstring settings; if so you can use M0 to shut it completely down or L1 to a lower level.
